ABOUT ABOUT

After months of senseless gun violence and painful headlines, it is hard not to feel dismayed and somewhat broken as we head into this holiday season.

The Red Thread Ensemble is a group of choral professionals and gifted community singers who have come together for a single purpose: to create performance experiences that remind us that we have far more in common than not. In the aftermath of this challenging election, we’ve crafted an evening that we hope will facilitate some healing. The centerpiece will be the Fauré “Requiem” as you’ve never heard it before: sung communally as a prayer for peace for all.

To create the aural impression of disparate segments of our community coming together in song, the entire work, both solos and choral movements, will be performed by varying groups of singers (ranging from from 3 to 53).

Red Thread will open the evening with two musical prayers, Vasks’s “Pater Noster” and Levine’s haunting setting of Father Alexander Men’s “A Prayer for Unity.” The Canyon Park Treble Chorus and Great Bend Chamber Orchestra with then join the ensemble to perform Fauré’s beloved and reassuring masterwork.

Tickets are available online and at the door.

ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE

There is an Asian myth about an invisible red thread that connects all who are destined to meet. This thread may stretch or even tangle, but it never breaks, and underpins a number of lovely ideas about soul mates, family and adoption.

The Red Thread Ensemble is interested in how music reveals these invisible connections. We create performance experiences designed to reinforce our awareness that we all have far more in common than not.
